Rihanna shared insights into the creative process of her next album, the follow-up to her 2016 hit, Anti.
Speaking with Interview Magazine for their spring 2024 issue, the singer disclosed that while she has ‘ a lot of visual ideas’ in mind for her next album, she is yet to match them with new songs.
“It’s weird. My brain is working backward right now. I usually have the music first, and the music leads me into all of these visual opportunities, and now I’m having all of these visuals,” Rihanna said.
She expressed a positive outlook on this new approach, stating, “but maybe that’s the key, this time, Maybe the visual ideas are leading me to the songs that I need to make.”
The global superstar’s return to the music scene has been eagerly awaited by fans since her last album Anti in 2016.
The album was a success, earning six nominations at the 2017 Grammys. Since then, Rihanna has largely focused on her Fenty beauty and fashion brands, along with embracing motherhood.
