As the Philadelphia Eagles enter the second half of the NFL season with the best record, coach Nick Sirianni and his staff are focusing on key areas to enhance their performance.

Red zone offense
Offensive coordinator Brian Johnson faced early-season scrutiny for the team’s red zone struggles. However, the Eagles have shown improvement, climbing from 27th to 13th in red-zone efficiency.
Notably, their performance against the Cowboys in Week 9, going 3-for-3, showcased progress. The goal is to break into the top 10, solidifying the Eagles as one of the NFL’s best offences.
Life without Goedert
Tight end Dallas Goedert’s broken forearm places him on injured reserve, requiring the Eagles to adjust their offensive approach. Despite Goedert’s underutilisation this season, his absence could pose challenges.
The Eagles will rely on backup tight ends Jack Stoll, Grant Calcaterra, and newcomer Albert Okwuegbunam to step up. The team aims for contributions from the group and explores various personnel groupings to compensate for Goedert’s absence.
Pass defence improvement
The Eagles pass defence has allowed the fourth-highest average of 257 passing yards per game and 19 touchdown passes. Defensive coordinator Sean Desai faces challenges due to injuries, but with key players returning, there’s optimism for improvement.
The secondary is gaining stability with Darius Slay, James Bradberry, Reed Blankenship, and Kevin Byard. Bradley Roby’s return from injury adds depth. Despite defensive lapses, the Eagles’ stellar run defence, ranking first in the league, provides a strong foundation.
Coach Sirianni expresses confidence in the defensive back group, emphasising preparation and the depth provided by general manager Howie Roseman. The Eagles acknowledge the need for enhanced pass defence to align with their championship aspirations.
